About The Author
Though educated in political science, with two decades of experience in the federal government, Julie is not an academic or a Washington insider. Instead, she proudly hails from the middle of the country, with an understanding of common perspectives outside of the establishment mainstream. An award-winning author, Julie is a product of the American Dream, growing up in the small business her parents started in the 1960s with a used sewing machine, working out of an old school bus, that became a leading manufacturer in the bass, ski and river boat industry.
As a Task Force Leader in FEMA Hazard Mitigation, she has lived and worked in large and small cities across the country, meeting people from all walks of life in their moment of need after natural disasters, promoting ways to become more resilient and self-reliant. She is an Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalism award-winning reporter in news radio covering North Arkansas and Southern Missouri.
Julie has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Central Arkansas and is the author of The Serpent Underneath, an American dystopian novel, which is the bronze winner of the 2023 FAPA President’s Book Awards for Adult Sci-Fi and finalist for the 2023 Best Thrillers Award. She enjoys sailing, kayaking and woodworking and lives in a log cabin that she and her family built themselves in the Ozark Mountains of North Central Arkansas.
